I like it.  I’m writing this mainly because I want to take credit for the above title :)

We live in Bonita Springs.

Danny is Walking.

I work in Ft. Myers.

I want to take a nap.

Is that random enough?

Well, we turned in our 60 day notice that we were leaving the apartment.  This could start an interesting series of events that I will not comment on until they have all played out due to potential contract issues.  All I’ll say is our counsel has advised us that we are in the right so we should have nothing to worry about.

We turned in the notice so we could move to a house in Bonita Springs, FL because I was offered a job in Ft. Myers.  More on that when all of the paperwork is done and it becomes official.  This has required us to move the search for day care for Danny up a little because the day care we currently has does not start until June 1st and it would be in a very inconvinient place for us once we move to Bonita Springs.  I have found a place with an immidiate opening but we’ll see how it pans out.  It was a nice place, I just wasn’t thrilled with its lack of access control, I keep reminding myself that it would only be for 5 months … we already have a day care for Danny when he turns 1 and starts walking.  I’m going to take the next couple of days to look for another day care, if I still find the 1 and 2 year waiting lists I think we will be forced to take this immediate opportunity.  A Nanny starting at $17.50/hour is just not an option right now.

Now that it looks like my days of Mr. Mom are numbered, I’ll probably shoot for a May 1st start date at work contingent on getting Danny into a day care we like and trust.  Now that my temporary vacation days have a firmer stop date, I’ve been slowly organizing what I need to do between now and then … Florida driver’s licence, register the car in Florida, get the windows tinted before the summer, take care of any freelance stuff for me or others that I want to take care of and read a little.  I just picked up Barak Obama’s book, The Audacity of Hope.  I’ll finish that and write up a little summary in the weeks to come.

Good news on the international front, it looks like the 15 British sailors in Iranian custody should be free shortly having received a pardon from the Iranian president.

I’m very excited to move to a single family home again.  Even better the model of home we are looking at in Bonita Springs is actually bigger then our house in Ohio (minus the full basement).  It will be nice to not have stuff shoved in the garage and completely inaccessible anymore.  Oh, and a place for my grill.  The single biggest annoyance I have in this apartment (besides the upstair neighbor’s sliding glass door) is that I cannot have my grill on our patio due to fire codes in the apartment complex.  I feel dirty cooking on the common grills here.

Danny gets to meet alot of the rest of my family who have not met him yet this weekend on Easter Sunday.  I’m looking forward to it even though I won’t be able to spend a good part of it with my wife who will be working that day, but that is a part of the job when you work at a zoo and I understand completely!

That’s it for now, our parade of visitors starts this weekend so I need to start getting the apartment ready.  At least the next set of visitors will not be subject to this place, but to a much nicer house (hopefully).

We now live in Naples, FL.  I am the father of a 6 month old also serving in the “Mr. Mom” capacity for at least a few more months.  I have a strong lead on a job that wasn’t budgeted for the company until the June/July time frame.  Our daycare starts June 1st.  Fate?  The Lord works in mysterious ways, this is probably one of them.  After 2 months as a primary care giver I have to figure out if I want to work again!  Just kidding Tiff, of course I do.  I work in IT, that means work buys me cool gadgets to play with!  Although my schedule lately has been:

6AM: Wake up, give Danny his bottle after mom feeds him his baby food
6:30AM: Flip through channels looking for something to watch
6:45AM: Still channel surfing, morning TV stinks
7:00AM: I usually find something by now, even if it’s an infomercial.  No, I have not bought a Magic Bullet, The Bean or have I embarked on a Real Estate career where I can make tens of thousands a month without using any of my own money or assets.
7:30AM: Danny usually starts a nap, I play World of Warcraft for an hour or 2.
10:00AM: Danny is about ready to eat again, I change him, feed him and head to the apartment complex gym for either cardio or weight lifting.  I’m down about 3-4lbs since we moved here.
11:30AM: Usually come home and shower then relax with the boy for a little.  Yesterday Danny and I went to the hot tub, no Danny did not go in, he was very happy in his stroller next to the tub.  Hot tubs are bad for babies.
2:00PM: Danny is ready to eat again, I change him, feed him then just relax with him for a little while he digests.  I can usually find something good on TV on Discovery Channel, History Channel, Travel Channel, ESPN or the Food Network at this time.  Sometimes Cartoon Network.
2:30PM: Play with Danny for a little
3:30PM: Danny goes down for his afternoon nap, I either watch TV, play WoW for a little or clean the apartment and start getting dinner together at this time depending on my mood.
6:00PM: Mommy comes home.  Daddy, Danny and Bailey wait by the sliding glass door for her.

I’m sure I missed a few things like taking the dog out and the like, but that just kind of happens when he whines.

I’m looking forward to starting work again, to getting some fishing in, being able to make the hour and a half trek to be able to see Dolphin games in person again.  The next few years will be fun as we get into the Florida lifestyle.

Yes it’s been a while, being Mr. Mom I should try to blog more often.  This topic got me back here because I need to share it with all 5 people who read this on occasion.

Bizzare Foods with Andrew Zimmern is probably the best new TV show on.

Nick Saban just lost any credibility he may have from here on out with me. He’s a liar, a coward and a quitter. I hope he falls flat on his face at Alabama, he deserves no better.

Windows Vista went RTM (Release to Manufacturing) last week and was recently added to the MSDN downloads.  I pulled it down last night and am installing it on a Toshiba M400 Tablet that I’ve been testing out.  We’ll see how it works, I’m excited to see some of the visual enhancements even though I was a little disapointed that then had to rip out the new search features because of time constraints.  I will also be installing Office 2007 on this machine to put that through it’s paces as well.

For those who play World of Warcraft, my guild has recently started the Naxxramas instance and we are working on downing Instructor Razuvious.  After about 3 hours of attempts last night we got him down to 60%, he will go down soon!

While I haven’t done any road running since the last time I blogged, I have been making an effort to go to the company gym at least 2-3 times a week for the last 2 weeks.  While I’m there I’ve been running for 15 minutes at a 10 minute/mile pace then riding the stationary bike for about 5 miles.  Come Sanibel time next year, I will be in shape and not embarassed to take my shirt off.

On the soccer front, we had our best season in recent history going 5-3-1.  We did lose our last 2 games of the season, but we were also missing most of our midfield for those 2 games.  I ended the season with 3 goals, all coming in one game (woo hoo, hat trick).  Not sure if I’ll play indoor or not, it all depends on the night the team wants to play and how good the baby decides to be.  I did tell Tiff’s cousin that I would substitute for his indoor team, but I was warned about their, um, skill level and to not get any ideas of winning.  Guess we’ll see if they call!

For those who don’t check out www.bimonte.net, 2 months go my lovely wife Tiffany and I had our first child, Daniel Mathias Bimonte.  He is doing wonderful, mainly because Tiffany has been the most wonderful mother with her constant nurturing and education.  At least he gets some Sportscenter when daddy stays home and Sunday afternoons are Miami Dolphins “game times” for daddy and baby.  He WILL grow up to be a Dolphins fan, that is really not an option.
